Environmental Field Technician

We are seeking hardworking and enthusiastic Environmental Field Technician for a full-time or part time seasonal position. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in outdoor environments and enjoy physically demanding work. The successful candidate will participate in various forestry, prescribed fire, and riparian restoration activities, including; small diameter forest thinning, hand piling, burning, planting, and in-stream restoration work, applicants must be comfortable or willing to learn how to safely operate power tools and hand tools. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training in multiple areas of ecological restoration work.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform forest thinning and vegetation management using power saws and hand tools.

  • Conduct tree felling, bucking logs, and building burn piles.

  • Participate in pile burning and prescribed burning operations.

  • Planting and in-stream low tech construction processes.

  • Operate and maintain equipment and tools safely and effectively.

  • Conduct safety inspections and implement company safety programs.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company policies and regulations.

  • Troubleshoot problems in the field and on job sites, identifying potential issues before they arise.

  • Adapt to changing work priorities and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project goals and company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with power saws, hand tools, and forestry equipment preferred

  • Physical ability to lift/push/pull weights of up to 100 lbs regularly and work in challenging outdoor environments.

  • Valid driver’s license with a favorable driving record.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Lack of ego and inclusivity in teamwork

  • Customer service skills, including listening, responding, and assisting with a positive mindset.

  • Passion for environmental conservation and landscape restoration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with wildland firefighting NWCG, prescribed fire, forestry, or construction (training pathways available)

  • Plant identification with emphasis on central Washington flora

  • Low tech process based stream restoration practices

  • Social Media and Content Creation

Work Environment:

  • Primarily outdoor work in diverse weather conditions and terrains.

  • Requires physical labor and stamina.

  • Regular travel to project sites within the region.

Location:

This position is based in Leavenworth, Washington with regular travel to project sites within Central Washington.
